Collaged images, paint, fabric, and text make up the layers. The piece is sewn, beaded, and waxed. The finished work adheres to a wooden panel. The edges of the painting are sewn and a little uneven.

The process in which I make art allows me to express internal dialogs between how thoughts and the body interact with the environment.  These narratives are built intuitively with layers through key materials and symbolism.  The layers are a play between a dreamlike beauty and a veiled relationship to my memory and emotions.

Figures are static in the landscape. In place of faces with acceptable emotions, inanimate objects are substituted. The replacement allows for concealed sentiments to be visible.  The scale of plants and animals is exaggerated to create a balance between the stagnant figure and the alive and growing. The tension between the figure, plant, and animal belies a dark whimsy.
